SteevieO
I am building a new entertainment center. I am using Forte IIs which have the 15" drone in the back. How far from the back of the cabinet should I place the speakers? How much clearance around the sides of the speakers should I allow on each side of the speaker? jerohm
I believe that a distance at least equal to the diameter of the passive radiator is usually recommended as the distance from the rear wall i.e., 15 inches for a II. Around the speaker??? I have no idea, but I would assume, the more, the better.
RIGGED25
My beauties that are black have 4 inches of rear clearance from wall to woofer. The rock of sheet just doesn't reverberate as well if I move them any farther... Forte IIs Yamaha 870 Carver TFM 35X Velodyne CT-
SteelerFan
The owners manual I got with my Forte ll's calls for a clearance of at least 3" from the back wall and to experiment from there. I bought RF-7's and moved my Fortes into the other room and that is about the clearance they have now. They sound great. As far as the sides, I don't know. Mine are about an inch from a wall unit on one side, and open on the other side. I don't imagine you would want them completely enclosed.
