onionrings
Can somebody explain to me the benefits of redoing crossovers? I have read the threads of other posters about doing this and was wondering is it worth the time? Also, does the insulating material inside the speaker make a difference? I pulled the woofers of the speakers and noticed there was basically foam thrown inside. Should there be a rhyme or reason to what material is used and where it is placed? I have Klf20's. Al Klappenberger
Yes, upgrading crossover can be a big improvement depending on the type of speaker. For the heritage seris (Khorn, Belle and La Scala) improvng the parts quaity wil reduce losses which lets more sound throught to the drivers. You have to be careful with other speakers though. Some are desinged with specific losses for good reason. The stuffing inside the woofer box damps out standing waves inside that happen to resonate with the length or width of the inside dimentions of the box. This can make frequency response humps and dips. Al K.
onionrings
So removing or adding stuffing should tighten or loosen up the bass in theory. Have you heard of any benefits to working the Legend Series crossovers?
dougdrake
Also, adding stuffing has the effect of making the enclosure seem acoustically larger than it is to the drivers inside it. DD

onionrings
What would you recommend to use as stuffing and should I fill in the bottom sides where there is none? I know to leave the ports open.
