Three questions before I make the leap...

Recommended Posts

I am probably going to purchase a Klipsch 4.1 system in the next few days, being a high-school student and all I want to get the best buy for my money...

1) Are these speakers as good as the reviews and people claim they are?

2) Are the refurbished sets worth purchasing (I am kinda poor)?

3) Is it worth the extra $50 to get the decoder?

Here is my opinions:

1.) Yes they are, if setup right...the sound is quite clear, and subwoofer drives low.

2.) Yeah they are, but I would get them from an authorized dealer.

3.) If your planing to use this system with your HT reciever, yes it is a must. However if your computer is any sort of decent, then modern software DVD programs like WinDVD 4 or PowerDVD XP, will decode Dolby Digital/DTS/Pro Logic II materal. They also have the ability to downmix the channels as well as LFE channel, as well as support 24bit/96Khz sample rates.

I agree, i would not bother with the decoder. the only time the docoder is useful is when you play dvd's. beyond that, the speakers are terrific! :)

now if your nick says anything about your taste in music then you'll definately be pleased! pop in some Tool and turn it up!!!!!
