rtaylor
Hi,have a set of mc-60's,one a ser # 9** and the other # 2f8**. The insides are pretty different. One has a transformer inside and the other not? Neither one is working properly now and a fellow that works on electronics is looking them over now. One Question I have is where to find new filter caps for them. Another is has anyone had any experience with these. I used them years ago before they started going south then put them away in a bedroom closet. Was also wondering if it would be wise to go ahead and replace any parts now while they are down? Any ideas? Thanks, Randy
CaptnBob
I had a Mc 60 "back in the day." A fine amp, but given to instability when driving long cables or difficult loads. If it's any help, good clean examples of the MC 60 can command up to $2000. Each. I'd talk to the guys at Audio Classics and see what they suggest, both for parts and how to match up your pair - maybe trade one in for a different unit, or something. Cosmetics are pretty important in these things, so if the chrome is nice and shiny you may have a unit worth fixing. If it's working up to potential, a Mc 60 will run roughshod over the Dynacos. Guy Landau
It seems that the choke was burnt sometime in the past, and was replaced by a resistor. If the output and power transformer are of the same type, they can be matched with replacement of some passive components and a new choke. rtaylor
I believe that the transformer that is in one is a stock part, it is stamped mc-60.The wiring is different in the amps and the connection blocks are different. They were made years apart I believe. I'll try the parts place, thanks
