Sayles
I see there are some 299D's for sale. As I am just starting to get into tube amps I don't think I want the pre-amp mono block set up just yet. Are the 299D's a decent integrated tube amp for high efficiency speakers? Thanks!! Sayles in Minnesota.
NOSValves
Sayles, They are real nice amps. The only down side to them is the output tubes are hard to come by in NOS versions. Electro Harmonics makes a large bottle version that sounds good in these amps but are to tall for a case to be used and in the 299C they sometimes are a tight fit rubbing the transformers. But all and all a nice amp and hopefully one of the other current tube manufacturers will start making standard size tubes soon. I have heard rumors that JJ Telsa is thinking about it but these are just rumors. Craig

Sayles
Thanks for the information on the Scott 299d. If I pick one up you will probably get it sent to you for a 'massage'. Sayles
