well, i went w/ a new marantz sr8000 from the local dealer @ $1k plus tax (thanks to the net prices bargaining power - she wanted 1300). will let u know how this smoothie drives the corns in rear in 5 channel stereo.

boa,got a got laugh outta that.Yeah I was wondering about the bi-wires.Another thing, was there any particular reason you decided on the Marantz? Any head to head comparison with the Denon that maybe helped you to decide,or was it maybe features that helped you to decide.Just for information.Have a local dealer that sells both Marantz and Denon. Thanks for the pricing tip.

yea didn't buy it there but compared the denon 3801 to the 8000 w/ same other components (quad speakers since they no had klipsch). thought the marantz had a smoother/richer sound (more tube like from what I remember of tube amps). had to look out for that for the cornwalls.

denon sounded great too. maybe a lil more lively. guess depends on prefs (as usual).

still waiting to get the 8000 when the c-7 arrives.

Boa12- Congrats on buying the SR8000---You will be amazed at the performance of this unit and how quiet, clean and powerful it is. Don't ever apologize for doing what sounds best to your ears (and mine). To all, do an A/B comparison and decide what sounds better while someone switches between the two units (while not looking).

My system:

KLF-30's mains

KLF-C7 center

KSP-S6's rears

KSW-15 front sub

KSW-100 rear sub

Marantz SR-8000

Toshiba SD-4205 5 DVD changer

Pioneer PDF-1007 301 CD changer

Mitsu 35" TV

Mitsu VCR

Monster speaker cable and sub cables

Audioquest interconnects

thanks bloomis - can't wait to get it hooked up here in the home.

i may be kicking myself in the future for not getting the denon or the marantz sr-18ex for that 6.1/7.1/multiple surrounds capability but i can live w/ that for now. went w/ what i thought sounded best instead of those features or, in the case of the marantz sr-18ex, many more $.

now don't know what to do w/ the sony.

maybe a 3rd bedroom system is in the works biggrin.gif

bloomis, also please see my new post under this section "nice new marantz receiver..."

anyway, now looks like more experimentation in store for me smile.gif
