bkrop
Just got a new phono cartridge, Grado silver sounds great! Ordered a Grado Red from hcmaudio.com , found the link on audiogon, when they did not get the red in after one week the shipped me the silver at the same price! 35$ difference in price! hcm red 80 vs 110 audioclassics, silver 115 vs 149 at audioclassics! kjohnsonhp
Congrats on the upgrade! I have the RED...I've heard better carts can get deeper in the grooves and play w/less noise so I'm interested in giving them a try. Enjoy spinning the wax. NOSValves
bkrop, What is the rated ouput of the cartridge and how well is it mating with your system overall in gain ? What input are you using ? Craig
bkrop
Hey Craig! 4 MV output of cartridge into the mag low input of the 299-C, sounds awesome! My 15 year old Grado mf-3 cartiidge went south when I switched to the Scott, or more likely I couldn't tell the difference with SS equip. Cleaning the input connections made a world of difference but the tape still sounded much better than the phono, now they both sound almost as great as the CD and tuner. Actually the phono sounds as good or better than the tuner! UB-40 was in my basement last night!
