i do now have a few ?s now on the 8000.

of course the remote. anyway to get it to learn signals from a jog dial like my sony dvdp has. that lil wheel u spin to go like fast forward, super fast, rewind, slow, super slow, etc. may have to get a marantz dvdp Smile.gif

& this auto unit power on w/ the video signal. the manual says the unit(i take to be the 8000) will auto power on when it receives a video signal & off when that stops like anywhere from 1 sec to 5 minutes.

what? i could see the value there maybe but haven't got it to work for me. what am i missing on this?

bloomis or anyone please help. thanks.

yea rvt i did have to end up halling the 100+ lb beast into the shop. only that the service tech hooked up the power lines inside wrong or something when putting it back together. only charged me $30 but now they have to come & get it again & no power up. will give me a loaner though on monday - probably a ksw.

thanks for the helpful attempt.

Marantz Journey Update:

well, still waiting on the Vel HGS to be fixed, but did find the answers to my last questions.

- did finally find a (toll) phone number for marantz america by doing an internet search for superscope.

- did get the remote to actually learn the jog dial commands from my sony dvdp remote. now have every single command from all 6 of my other remotes on the marantz remote. that remote is simply amazing. & i've

had to change the batteries only once Smile.gif

got a big supply of AAs from rat shack today.

- just may get a marantz dvdp & move the current sony back w/ it's soul mate receiver in the listenin lounge.

- marantz tech said to not even bother w/ the tv auto on/off function. says it doesn't work too well (& I agree!)

- even got a sound meter at rat shack & calibrated the 4 big speaks to +6 & center +9. leaving sub at +0 for now as i only have a vel fsx-12 loaner.

- seems to sound best for everything w/ sub hooked to sub preout w/ fronts & center set small & cornwall rears set to large. should sound even better when the vel hgs-18 returns. Wink.gif

BOA12- Thanks for updating us all......It sounds like you've made a lot of progress with the Marantz and that awesome remote. Is your SR8000 as quiet as mine with the KLF-30's and C7... I can't hear anything out of my speakers between tracks or at idle with volume up.

Are you still thinking of going back to the Denon 3801??? I didn't think so.

I programmed all of my components into the Marantz remote and I even use 2 of the 4 Macro's to impress the chicks (Wife and daughter).

Welcome to Marantz believer club.

hey thanks again bloomis! but do be careful w/ that Jager Tipsy.gif

my chick is even using the macro to turn on evrything at once. after that well it's still a learning process.

definitely sold on the 8000 & quite content (for now) in my lil 5.1 realm. very silent unit. should be just

a lil fine tuning when the vel comes home. not only see the light but starting to enjoy the warmth Smile.gif
