cd-i?

I am not a game player. Short attention span I guess. It is a shame that Philips promoted this platform as a game machine and not as a learning tool. Playstation and Nintendo was coming out about that time and CD-i could not compete. CD-i also had mpeg 1 capability, and I remember watching movies on a cd long before DVD became mainstream. It was neat! I am very fond of some of the art titles. Art of the Czars, The Renaissance of Florence, French Impressionism, Van Gogh. Bunches of art and alot of music titles too. The stuff looks great on my HT. I looked on ebay and there is a Philips CD-i player and five titles going for 50 bucks. Can't beat it. Someone ought to check it out. One last thought... I have been reading this forum for a couple of months and ya'll are a great bunch!! Thanks.

Another thing I experienced with cd-i was that it was very hard to get software locally. Sears carried the system, but had very few software titles. I got the impression that Phillips was trying to monopolize access to the software and reap the profits. That, of course, could make their local distributors less than enthusiastic about pushing the system. But you're right, movies looked very good on the cd-i.
