The 501 is a higher watt more robust model i got off e bay last month for $ 60 delivered. The 720 I have owned since 1985. It has push button source switches that get dirty and are sometimes difficult to use. Both sound good for SS amps. For $ 100 you could get a better amp unless this one is mint. Depending on condition i would pay $ 40 -60. You could do better on E Bay if you are comfortable with that service. I have made over 20 purchases and in only one case received scratched records.
