KAiN5 (banned )
I just recently got DSL. I am now using a Linksys Home Phoneline Network card. The model name is HPN100. However, the problem is that now I cannot host any online games. People say that the game keeps trying to connect to me but never gets through. The thing is that I don't have any firewall, the only think that I changed is my ISP and went from an ISDN modem to a network card for DSL. dougdrake
Are you using public IP addresses on your PC, or is the DSL modem translating them to a private IP address, which might be causing a problem. (Some applications don't like address translation). Also, I'm skeptical of the home phone line connections -- gimme Cat5e or Cat6 wiring or nothing at all... damonrpayne
I had a friend with DSL, if I remember right the DSL modem had the public IP address and the PC used PPPoE to communicate with it. What type of IP address does your machine have, if it is a 192.168.xxx.xxx or 169.254.xxx.xxx then you may be hosed.
