Stovebolt6
Can Boiled Linseed oil be applied over stain like Minwax Wood Finish? I have unfinished speakers that I want to stain really dark, however I still want the look of the oiled finish. Dan

hurdy_gurdyman
I have used boiled linseend oil or tung oil over top of minwax oil stain, but I haven't used it over stain-varnish, where I don't think it would work. Dave
garymd
As long as you don't put any kind of polyurethane on them, the BLO will work fine. Just use plain old wood stain, let dry then use BLO. You can use 0000 steel wool between coats of BLO if you need more than 1. As Andy always says, "Never use BLO on a laquered finish!!!!!" BnB guy
as long as the wood can still absorb the blo eg. no poly or other "sealers" you should be able to ues whatever you want .
