AUGIE
I'm considering purchasing a wood tech center channel stand but I am now considering mounting the center above my projection screen. That would locate it about 7 feet in the air and I would tilt the speaker toward the listeners. If I go witht the stand, the speaker would be 18" off the floor with a slight tilt up toward the listener. As of now I am using a SC-1 for my center but would like to upgrade to RC-35 in the future, I'm leaning toward the stand because it would make any transition easier in the future. Anyone have an opinion about the best location?
space_cowboy
I'd personally buy the stand and mount the center on it from the floor, under the screen if possible. Seven feet in the seems kinda outta whack, besides how would you mount it up there? I vote for the floor stand.
bkrop
About 1\2 way between the R & L main speakers would be best! Seriously, make sure you know the height of the shelf, most are not tall enough to accept my RC3 II and I believe you will have the same problem with the RC-35. Pistol Pete
I would expect it would sound better if it was up high and tilted down. If you are willing to go thru the trouble to put it up there , believe me you will be rewarded.
DrWho
i personally find speakers higher up sound better too...if you can, i'd experiment with putting your mains up that high as well. it creates a totally different sound. (...bigger?) having the center on the bottom, makes voices sound like they're coming from their feet instead of their head (and the center channel does crap loads of vocals).
