DwK
Paradigm Monitor Specs Look at the Monitor 11's and the Monitor 90p. Look at theyer drivers. On the Monitor 11's there are 3 6.5 inch Bass Drivers. On the Monitor 90p's there are 3 8 inch Subwoofer Drivers. The tweeter and Mid Range are the same size, they arnt important in this question, I dont believe. Why are they classified differently, and what do they do differnetly? 1 has 3 Bass Driver, the other has 3 Subwoofer Drivers. WHATS the difference? ------------------ K6-2 450 SB Live Value ( not 5.1) Klipsch Pro Media v2 400 ( soon to be 4.1 ) 2 Fisher STV-873's on front channel 2 Fisher surrounds on rear channel
USparc
Dwk, Well you can see them the same as the RF-3's to the RP-3-5's. The 90p is an active speaker. That is that they have also an amplifier build in like a subwoofer. Look a bit lower on the page or paradigm and you see the specs of the amplifier of the 90p. Hope this clears things out. Oh, 5 drivers isn't that not a little overkill. ------------------ ------------------------- Receiver: Onkyo 676 DVD: Pioneer DV-525 Screen: Thomson 46" RetroProjection Front: RF-3's Rear: RF-3's Center: RC-

Seb
two differences-look at the size and amplification. as said before, the 90P is an active speaker, meaning at least its bass drivers are amplified by an internal amp. secondly it has 3 8 inchers while the 11s have only 3 6 1/2 inchers. subwoofer is supposed to be for the REALLY low frequencies, like 80Hz and lower. bass is anything between that and say 200-400Hz, bass-midrange is that and up to like 5k. those are approx., i may be way off, but it's just to tell you that they're supposed to be named after their usage. in this case it may vary a bit. guess they had to have to use different words to describe the differences between the 11s and 90P.
