JasonLChristian
I have a set of MCM-1900 speakers with blown woofers. Can someone tell me a possible replacement woofer that would give good performance? Thanks - Jason
oosting
Get them reconed. Probably for around $50 each. Check out http://www.newfoam.com/. Ed This message has been edited by oosting on 06-06-2001 at 05:01 PM
J M O N
Blown woofers on MCM-1900's? I'd guess you probably need to get your eardrums replaced as well!
mopeman
Just found out I have 1 woofer in my MCM's that has an open voice coil. God knows how long it's been out. And yes, they are in a home system. What can I say, when you like loud you own Klipsch!
oosting
You can get that woofer re-coned at: Circuit Shop 3716 28th St Se Grand Rapids, MI 49512 (616) 285-1144 I've used them. They do good work. They are a little hard to find. Let me know if you want directions. Ed
djk
Most of the time the K43 may be repaired without re-coning.Usually the tinsel lead goes open where it is crimped to the voice coil wire just under the dustcap.Cut the dustcap off with an exacto knife leaving a 1/8" ridge to glue the new dustcap over.Replace both tinsel leads while you are at it.Use GOOP to glue the connection back on to the cone, RC56 for the dustcap to cone.Wait a day for the glues to cure.Cost you about $2.
