  1. As the only person on here who seems to own a set of these things (see the pictures in the other MCM forums) I will tell you that I paid $4400 for them back in the fall of 2000. Mine are black and have only been used in private homes, never in a commercial application. I can't stress it enough, if you have the room, BUY THEM...! There is nothing that even comes close! My LaScala's sounded like a Wal-Mart AM radio next to them..
  2. Commercial audio? Here is a shot of one of my MCM's in my loft. Sorry for the picture quality, it's the only one I have. I am the third owner of them and they have never been used professionally. The other one is in the corner to the left of this one by about 15 feet in a room that is 44' x 50' with a 14' ceiling. I run them each with an Adcom 565 which seems to be just enough power to make them audible over a normal conversation! In a left/right, side by side test, my LaScala sounded like a transistor radio compared to the MCM. If you have the room and can find a set, I would really recommend them. Would love to hear from other deaf people with a set!
  3. What does the MCM stand for? I have owned mine since 2001 and use them for my home system. They have always been used for home use and I absolutely love them!
  4. Before you build a set try checking E-bay for some. I bought my pair for my house off e-bay 3 years ago. I had seen another pair on about 3 months prior too so they do turn up (so to speak!!)from time to time. They are definately worth the effort. Nothing else even comes close.
  5. Indy- doubtful that I will ever sell them but I will keep you in mind! I actually found them on e-bay about 3 years ago. I bought them from somebody in Utah who no longer had the room for them. Now that's a surprise! He had gotten them from the original owner who only had them in his house too. I had Atlas Van Lines move them out to me in Michigan. Needless to say, the moving guys thought I was totally insane. My mono Adcom's definately are not up to the task but I'm not a maniac audiophile about things. My theory on sound is a little different than most. I always thought the purpose of a system was to faithfully reproduce the source i.e. the band or more specifically a live performance of the band. I have been to CES many times and marveled at all the mega-high end stuff. However, the puny, hand wound everything, built from un-obtainium, whacko system just can't put me in the front row of a rock concert like my MCM's can! Long live the horn! BTW I have never owned anything but Klipsch speakers. Got my first set at age 14 as Dad's hand me downs. Used to have my buddies over after school for some "klipsching" (as they called it) so they could listen to music loud until we got busted by Mom. Funny, some of the same guys come over now, 25 years later, for exactly the same thing! Albeit a little louder!
  6. Just stumbled on to these great stories! I have a perfect pair of MCM's in my loft that I use as my main speakers. Driven with mono Adcom 555II they will definately blow you away! There is nothing like them, period.
  7. Just found out I have 1 woofer in my MCM's that has an open voice coil. God knows how long it's been out. And yes, they are in a home system. What can I say, when you like loud you own Klipsch!
  8. The stacks come with their own crossover. I actually live in a large loft and have a pair of MCM 1900's (old version of the MCM grand) in my 40 x 50 foot living room. They are driven with a pair of Adcom 555II in mono. I can tell you, they will knock your socks off! You will not be sorry if you get them!
