Dmitry
Just bought these <1972 vintage> while on a weekend ski trip in Mont Tremblant of all places. In a junk barn... Wanted to replace the binding posts. The back panel doesn't budge at all. How thick and heavy is it? Any suggestions?

HDBRbuilder
Heresy back panel on those from 1972 should be 1/2" or 3/8" thick fir plywood. The factory just screwed them on, but a previous owner may have removed them and glued them on...who knows? If not glued on, then they may have slightly stuck to the caulk used in the corners of the glue blocks the screws go into, and will pry out with a bit of effort, but be careful not to damage the speaker cabinet at the corners when doing so! You want to keep the cabinet with a good surface there so that the box will remain "airtight" when you replace the back after your binding post mod!
