sukh77
On my 4.1's, i can hear the subwoofer making a fluttering sound. I know its not the speaker, but the air making the sound as it rushes out. Is there any way to stop this flutter sound...it usually happens on deep bass. (e.g. Wyclef Jean - Gone Till November in the first 20 seconds). Its a 160Watt sub, and i know my ACS-48's could handle the bass, without fluttering or distorting. Swerv
turn the sub volume to the neutral level, make your winamp EQ flat, also the ACS48 sub cant even come close to reproducing low bass like the klipsch sub, in order to hear the low bass the speaker has to move in and out a lot more so you can actually hear the sound the lower it goes the slower the speakers moves, but the more it moves. The flutter is from the driver moving in and out a lot a low frequencies. klipsch sub has the ability to go to 29Hz Acs would be lucky to go to 40Hz Reproducing 40Hz is a lot easier than 29 Hz especially on a 6.5 inch driver. just know the limits of the sub and it should be fine, also try some different material, could just be that the song had a lot of LF bass below 30Hz. fresca23
Hey, well what i found is that putting a piece of cotton cloth in the tube lessens the "fluttering" sound, and also the rattling of the subs. Works for me, give it a try. Cant hurt! cya --dan
Paragon
You are actually limiting the excursion of the drivers doing so. Of course it stops the noise cause air cannot go thru the port to make the noise. 2 6.5" drivers will push a lot of air and that air has to go thru the port.. hence the noise. If you play some deep base.. watch the drivers move in an out.. and then put you hand over the port, you will notice that the driver does not move as much from it having to compress the air. This is the main reason why sealed sub boxes will require more power in order to match a ported box - the sealed driver has to compress air while the ported drive only has to move air. fresca, you will probably get better bass without blocking the port and allow the driver to do its job. I have no problem with port noise, I just keep the sub level to the mark and dont mess with any EQ settings in winamp or windoze. I am not a bass freak.. I just like clean bass. DwK
Some of us are bass freaks though if I could find a Powerd subwoofer onsale for 50 bucks, and it hit hard, (8 or 10 inch maby) I'd buy it. Put it in my room with my Fishers when I get a amp, using those 2 12 inch woofers. Using my Pro Media sub And the new sub. and STILL want more. ------------------ Living Room: Yamaha Natural Sound A-500 Stereo Amplifier 2 Klipsch Heresys on A switch 2 Fisher STV-873 on B switch My Room: Klipsch Pro Medias 2 Fisher Surrounds
