lpdcan28
i know the almighty bose co. has that 3-2-1 system where you get the surround sound from only 3 speakers. i think a company called Niro has something similar. i was wondering if there are similar companies that have these types of systems. my parents want to add surround sound, but do not want to pay more than a few hundred. i know bose and that niro co. run about 600 to 1000 for their respective systems. any info. would be great! gcoker
The only other one would be Nacamitchi has a single spearker which supposedly repoduces 5 channel surround sound. However, I'm sure this would be over the price your parents are interested in.
glennbarn
Anoher option you may want to look at is buying one of the Harman Kardon's 5.1 receiver which has the VMAx feature, their technology that simulates surround using your left and right speakers only. If your parents want to upgrade someday to a 5.1 setup, then they just have to add the sub, center and surround speakers. Have your local dealer to demo the AVR 125 or AVR 225 for VMAx and find out if you find this solution to be good enough.
dgb
A lot of newer TVs also have Simulated Surround which works reasonable well. An old Carver Holographic Processor would do nicely too.
