neworldorder
Hi All I am starting from scratch and here are my the requirements/specs: 1. Budget for HT is MAX $2500, that includes speakers, a/v receiver, DVD/DVD-A/SACD player, cables and popcorns. 2. I am looking for 5.1 and NOT 7.1. However I would not be averse to having an expandable receiver. 2. This setup would be used for both Music and HT. 3. Due to various constraints, I don't want to get floorstanding speakers as the main speakers. Would be happy with good bookshelfs. 4. I want to start small, in the sense that get the DVD Player/Receiver/front channels (RB-75?) now and add center/rear and subwofer gradually. 5. As far as the DVD/SACD/DVD-A player is concerned, it would be great to have a multi-region player, however not necessarily. 6. I would love to buy from an authorised dealer, but again can consider buying online. What do you guys think? Where can I spend these $2500? Appreciate your help. Thanks. Neworldorder. dougdrake
Does the $2500 include all speakers, or just the fronts ones for now?
neworldorder
Ohh...yeah it includes all the speakers. BTW: I was inclined towards RB-75, however not sure which center/surround and sub is going to make a match. Appreciate your help. Thanks
gcoker
$2,500 is do-able but tight. I assume you have a TV already but here is my 3 cents Your best bet is to buy a package set up from a retailer like Ultimate. The always have setup which pair a Denon/Klipsh or Definitive Tech or Yamaha/Polk with DVD player typically less than 2500.

The RC-25 goes for $280 - is that the center that your talking about? Also the RB-35's go for $600 can you talk down to $479? Don't mean to offend, just wondering. The retail price you are quoting is MSRP. You would be a fool to pay that. It's like a cars MRSP do you pay that? Best thing to do is check prices on line and take that to dealers saying that's what you will pay..9 times out of ten they will take it. Do price research before you shop and NEVER pay MSRP. Do you think that you could get the RC-35 for 62% of retail. That sounds like to much of a discount to me. The RB-35's sound more reasonable at just under 20% off. gcoker
I was not getting worked up. I was just suprise that you were quoting the MSRP as the price. but know I understand your question. Before the RC-35's came out I purchased a RC-3II for $275 from Ultimate Electronics. I think that retailed for $400. Recently I purchased a Sunfire MkIV sub at the same place for 76% off retail. So 65-80% off MSRP should be the range. It does seem like Klipsch has more room to discount. I have even seen RF-7 at $899 each before any haggling. speed3
Actually, I'm sorry it should have been $269 for the RC 35 and yes I can get the RB 35's for $479 a pair. In fact, a close firend of mine did just that two weeks ago. There was no "dickering" or anything. That's the price they've been selling them for here.
