FYI - Saw some Cornwalls for sale!

Just arrived at Audioclassics -

http://www.audioclassics.com/detail.php3?detail=CORNWALL

They're B1 condition, which means light wear and fully tested and functional AND $599 for the pair. My CF-4's were 'B1' and they were almost perfect cosmetically. Considering what I saw some people pay on Ebay for less than desirable goods, sounds like a great deal. If I hadn't just bought my CF-4's, I'd be snapping these babies up.

Zero details (age, finish?) and no pictures. I'm prepping my Corns for sale today. 1980 walnut, excellent condition. I'll offer them here before eBay/Audiogon, in a new thread.

I think they've sold anyways - I don't see them listed anymore under 'New Arrivals', nor do they show up on a general search. Wonder if someone from here bought them? 1.gif

I can attest from experience, that my CF-4's were listed exactly the same way, no picture, 'B-1', and were virtually perfect. I even asked, when I bought them over the phone, if I could cancel the transaction if I wasn't satisfied, and I was told 'Of course'

My own positive experience is why I mentioned them here. I don't 'hawk' goods, nor stores (I'm not affiliated with anyone in the business), but I know Cornwalls seem to be 'in demand', and I felt it a safe bet these were 'winners', again based on experience.

I was surprised to see a reasonable priced ANYTHING at audioclassics. Not surprised to see they upped the price from $599 to $799 in a matter of hours though.

They'd do a lot more online business if they posted a better description and a few pics to go along with their higher than ebay priced items.

Not really interested in arguing over an FYI, thread, but just where have you seen all these bargain-bin Cornwalls? lol

Here's a quick scan of completed Ebay auctions for Cornwalls -

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3079992387&category=14993

$900 with prominent staining of one cabinet

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3081586864&category=61378 - $1175

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3082241228&category=61378

These were less - $613 - but the cabinets sound pretty banged up, and the grills were fubar.

Cornwall 2!! $910

Remember, A.C. was selling them for $799 with a return policy, etc.

Again, those Cornwalls were being sold by a store with written policies - quite a bit different than buying from an individual on the web. That's got to be worth something in and of itself.

True but AC has a reputation for selling at absolute top dollar. Look at some of their Mac gear. I once saw an MX110 for $2k on their site! It's a joke. I guess some people don't think so because they stay in business. A warranty and check up by a certified tech is certainly worth something but not double the value.

Cleve,

I was not arguing the price. Mine will be offered for more than what those sold for. My point is that they did not give any description of these particular Cornwalls. I'll bet if you called them, they'd be happy to tell you all about them, but few people will take that initiative. I think if you've got someone's attention (they're viewing your website page), then you might as well do a little selling (not just order-taking). That's all.

I used to run a wanted ad in the local paper. It was a basic "wanted old stereo equipment" ad that got me lines on a lot of gear.

Audio classics is pretty local to me. One day I got a call from one of their company owners. He had seen my ad and was feeling me out. Asking me what I was buying and what I was doing with the items I bought? Eventually telling me that I was his competition and he didn't really appreciate me taking his potential scores.

What an A$$HOLE!

Not long after that call AC started running a wanted ad in the same exact paper for the same stuff! Essentially trying to edge me out.

Their ad can be seen here in the "M's" about 1/2 way down.

Neo,

I will post shots tomorrow. Today I made some minor repairs in the veneer (steamed out a few dents, repaired some tiny chips with "dutchmen"), and oiled 'em up real good. They're gorgeous.

Where abouts does your friend live? I'm North of SF by about 50 miles.
