MMatthew Posted July 3, 2001 Share Posted July 3, 2001 I was listening to my pro medias (v.2-400s, new preamp that doesn't have the rear-speaker hiss) and suddenly it crackled, then all the speakers had a faint buzz, then it grew louder. I checked the cables on the back of the sub and jiggled the preamp into the sub around a bit, which made the speakers crackle and pop a lot. I pulled the plug, checked the settings on the computer, connections on the back of the computer and the connections on the back of the sub. Everything was fine. I plugged it back in and the hiss and crackling was very bad and pretty loud. The volume level of the hiss and buzzing coming through the speakers didn't matter what setting the volume knob was set to (IE: low or high volume, the buzzing was the same volume). Also, the green LED wasn't lit up. I jiggled the connector again a bit, got the LED to light up for a flash or so of it before it went out. Is my preamp broken? No sound comes out the speakers at all except for buzzing. Could it also be a connector (the one from the preamp to the sub)? Thanks for the help.
