Rob's Klipsch
No Klipsch stuff guys, please don't kill me. I was browsing around and found this thing and it made me laugh. You "horny" guys are the only ones I thought would appreciate it! Don't blame me for any of it I didn't write it. Just wanted to share. http://ohmslaw.com/horn.htm Rob 86 LaScalas with ALKs All Rotel gear Velodyne Sub
TBrennan
It's not funny. Fran has built an armature type speaker, they were popular before Kelogg and Rice invented the dynamic speaker. Many antique radios use such speakers and they look like the one Fran made too. Evidently Fran is an antique radio enthusiast. I admire her ingenuity. I certainly ain't laughin'. nuclearay
I've often thought about building my own speakers... Something a little more "audiophile" than Fran's, of course. I have seen clone klipsch speakers posted on these boards which spurred me to do a patent search on the old klipschorn design. (the expired ones) Nothing too complicated -- put some decent $$ in the parts and I could use my dad's shop for construction and maybe I could save a couple grand?! Now if I could just make the day 36 hours long.

DrWho
ok, im confused...since when does a hard drive have a voice coil?
chops
Actually it's the armature in a hard drive that moves back and forth like a windshield wiper. Apparently, it moves rather fast in order to make any sound once connected to a cone.
chops
After taking that picture of my hard drive, now my computer won't work for some reason........ Odd, isn't it?!
