garymd
I don't know if this has been covered but I got The Who's "Tommy" on SACD the other day and it's a magnificent recording. Highly recommended and I'm not even a big Who fan. Just thought I'd share.
Seadog
I had Tommy on 8-track in HS. Maybe I'll pick up the SACD. Is it 2-channel or did they trick it up with 5.1?
garymd
All tricked up with 5.1 although I just use 2-channel. DSD also for what it's worth. Remastered and remixed by Pete Townshend. It may be the best recorded rock SACD I own. I couldn't believe my ears when I first put it on. It rivals Steely Dan's "Gaucho." Includes bonus tracks, out-takes and demos. garymd
Smilin, I own about 40 SACDs. This one is great IMO. I've never even heard DVD-A. The Who is not known for great recordings which is why this was such a nice suprise. The guitar on "Pinball Wizard" is amazing. BTW - Maybe it's because I'm not using a sub when listening. If you're looking for bass punch, maybe some others will beat it. I'm talking overall clarity.

picky
Hey, it's great to know I'm not the only GEEZER here, Seadog! I had a 'Tommy' 8-track in High School, too! It was a two-tape album. Thanks for sharing, Gary! I'll have to go grab that one myself and give a listen! I always liked 'Quadraphenia', too (another two-tape 8-Track set I had)!
