colterphoto1
I have a KSW12 that works very well with my Cornwalls. My problem is that sometimes I listen at very LOW levels. I know this is a novel concept for many of you, but I like it LOUD sometimes as well. Problem is this, I don't want to leave the sub on all the time, but the AUTO ON feature will not switch on if my receiver volume is very low (due to the enormous efficiency of KLIPSCH speakers, no doubt) or if it does turn on and I reduce volume (say to converse or answer the phone) the AUTO feature will switch the power off. I like to use the sub for all listening since our ears are even less sensitive to very low tones at low volume levels. (Fletcher-Munson Effect, if memory serves) It doesn't make sense to have it and not use it. Is there a way to reduce the sensitivity of the AUTO ON feature? I'm thinking this may involve switching out only a couple of electronic parts and I do know which end of the soldering iron to hold!
Danartdis
I have wondered the same thing. I gave up a long time ago...I just get up and turn the amp off manually before going to bed. Sorry thats no help. Dan
sivadselim
why don't either of you want to leave the sub ON, all the time? if the sub has L+R inputs and you haven't tried a Y-adapter at the sub, you may want to, to increase the "tickle". this is, however, not the most desirable solution. another solution is to lower the sub's volume level with the sub's volume control and increase the sub channel output at the receiver. this is not the best solution either. the best solution is to leave the sub ON all the time. Danartdis
What is tickle? Why is it not a good idea to turn the sub amp down while turning up receiver sub output? And finally, I just assumed that leaving sub amp on 24/7 would put unnecessary wear on the amp. Admittedly, I am not an electronics guy. Olorin
It shouldn't wear on your amp, but it might wear on your wallet. Some of these amps draw a fair amount of current just sitting at idle -- your owner's manual should have that data.
