Can you add an AMP to a Denon AVR-3801?

I am not familiar with seperates at all, didn't even know they existed until I started visiting this forum and several like this one. I don't have alot to spend on a receiver (<$400) but I don't necessarily want to buy a receiver I will need to replace in two years or less. Would the 3801 be a decent pick-up and can I add an amp to it later if I want more juice?

Thanks,

D

Sure can D-Rex. As D-Man said, simply run RCA's from the preouts on the receiver to the inputs on the amp. Speaker wire amp to speaker.

I have used a 3801 for years with Acurus amps, a 125X5 and a 100X3. Never heard the receiver power but the separate amps sound great. To get better performance from separates would require much more money. To me, just not worth the cost.

Check out the receiver well before buying. And get the owners manual. Good luck!

Are you gonna add an amp to it anytime soon? Cause the 3801 plays pretty sweet as it is...

No, my funds are depleting rapidly! I still need to pick up a couple of floor speakers and possibly a sub over the next few weeks/months! I just can't buy this stuff soon enough! 9.gif
