WhoozYoDaddy
All I hear is RF's are insanley bright. Fortes will preform better than anything in the refrence line in terms of sound quality and balance. Sooo all I need to know now is. How does the Forte compare to other similar priced products: CF-3? KLF-30? KG5.5?
Strabo
It all really depends on how you plan to use them. As Bill stated earlier, if you plan on growing into a HT go with the Reference line. If it will be strictly for 2 channel I'd go with Quartets, or KLF-20/30's, and a sub, or Forte's and skip the sub. Personally, I think the Forte's are too much for that room (12 X 11). Heck, they are too much for my room (11.5 X 26.5) but that's IMHO. If you plan to move to a bigger room in the future then go Forte II. The reason I say skip the sub is that you will need a good sub to integrate seamlessly, not just any sub. For example, a friend was over (he owns KLF-20's X 4, and Heresy II's X 2) a couple of weeks ago for a quick listen. I played the 1812 Overture SACD for him. In the middle of playing he asked how my sub was set (before we even got to the canon blasts)? Answer, there was no sub. Only two channel stereo, but enough deep bass to feel it and shake things with only 90dbs peeks.
WhoozYoDaddy
Find me a pair of KLF-30's for sale and ill buy them. heh. In fact im just wondering which of the 3 speakers gives better overall quality. The KLF-30, the Forte II, or the CF-3....
Kevin97225
Go to www.audioreview.com and you can read many peoples own opions on those speakers you are interested in and the RF line. It will give you an idea how they are liked and rated by people actually using them.

Kevin97225
>All I hear is RF's are insanley bright< Well, you better not listen to them! They don't know what they are talking about and don't own the RF line. If the RF line was insanely bright....... I would not have purchased 4 of them. Like I said, I owned the Forte for a few years before I just bought these RF-7 and RF-5 pairs. And I'm very happy with them and YES..... I think it's better than the Forte!! Hands down! If you are into used speakers than maybe it's a good way for you to get started with less $$$. Check out the reviews on the RF line at AR and you will see just how well people love them! WhoozYoDaddy
But the Forte II? It uses the Tractix horn, just like an RF-5. But it has a more neutral sound. To each their own I guess. And on AR Fortes get a 4 something out of 5 too.
Kevin97225
Huh? They both sound natural!
Kevin97225
The RF line is Neutral sounding, not bright or harsh in any way. If one is getting bright, better look in your chain link some where else causing it! When I first got my Klipsch, I had to start looking for a new Amp since my previous one caused it to sound a bit bright. Once I changed over to the Rotel RB-1090 Amp, so smooth, detailed, and never harsh or bright. Very much a superb amp..... especially for Klipsch speakers! Very revealing combo that is quite stunning. I now have 3 pairs of Klipsch RF-7 (6 speakers) and another Rotel setup of the same since I've been so pleased with the sound combo. I sold my RF-5 pair. All the great folks here is who helped me go with Rotel when I asked for advice, so I'm very grateful to everyone here who helped me, they sent me in the right direction that I have no regrets at all! Thanks, Kevin.
