  1. Keep your mind on the Rotel RB-1080 it's an excellent choice with the Klipsch RF-7. I have two Rotel RB-1090's and I'm very happy with the sound quality, very stunning. You will love the Klipsch/Rotel combo. What ever you do, don't let others ster you away from this combo, it's that good!!
  2. Hi tkdamerica, Thanks for the offer but I wouldn't give up my RF-7's. I use to own a set of Cornwalls and La Scalas before, so I'm very familiar with those two models, yet I would not be without a set of RF-7's. The picture was taken during the time I was testing every thing during the first 30 days for the equipment and speakers, now I have them setup properly without the grey foams on the bottoms! I've had this setup for about 1½ years. Thanks!
  3. Great to see others enjoying the RF-7's as much as I. I am still amazed and stunned by the quality of sound I get back from them, so much so, that I have 3 Pairs of RF-7's (6 speakers). Enjoy your new purchase, the sound is going to amaze you.
  4. I suggest to ignor sunburnwilly, he is showing self doubts and signs of really wanting those shinny cones!
  5. wstrickland1, it's all balls down to perference, Heritage (PA Quality) or Reference (Sudio Quality). (Heresys ate the RF 7s for lunch), is not a very accurate way of putting it.
  6. (2each) 2-channel systems (Rotel) and 3-pair of Klipsch RF-7's (6-speakers) Both Rotel Systems are identical: Rotel RB-1090 Amp Rotel RC-1090 Pre Rotel RCD-1072 CD-Player Rotel RT-1080 Tuner Sound is amazing! I'm stunned every day that I sit down for a listen! Love the Klipsch / Rotel match.
  7. klipschaholik, wow - it is a small world! You don't find many people from Alexandria, Louisiana! I grew up there too, at the same time you did! Hmmm, wonder if I know you.
  8. I compared the RB-1080 and RB-1090 side by side and there is a difference between the two. If one wants the added detail for the upper and lower end, deeper bass, and over-all improvement to the sound the RB-1090 is the way to go, it's not just about the 380wpc gain. I've run less with the RF-7's and like I've said, it's a certain sound quality to the sound with a higher power amp, and yes the RF-7's respond beautifully to it. The RB-1090 does an excellent job with great deep power bass that just doesn't happen on a less wpc that I've tried. *but "one of the finest amplifiers available at any price from any manufacturer" is a bit much...* minn_male42, It might sound a bit much but I'm only quoting from what description many places put next to the RB-1090, I think they word it like this to give one the idea of just how good of an amp it is. Even when I read that, it had me a little stumped on just how or what they meant by that of how it's worded?? Gets one's attention and makes you wonder though!
  9. "What the RF-7 can't do is overwhelm a listening room with its majestic presence, create a boundless soundstage, or make you forget you're listening to speakers." I disagree, the RF-7's can do this too, and does for me all the time. It's true that the Klipschorn's does have a big sound but the RF-7's can hold their own too and when it's heard it makes quite an effect on family and friends that amaze and stun them. It's BIG and LIVE sounding, it's the reason why I bought the RF-7's.
  10. The Rotel RB-1090 is hard to find used because people just don't give them up very often. I've seen them going used for $1000 to $1300. Yes, it does have handles, the front is considered handles when you turn it on it's back panel where there are feet that holds it upward for moving. Yes, you can plug the RB-1090 into a normal wall socket, works great. The built-in wheels is a great feature for getting the RB-1090 moved easily into position. No, the RB-1090 is not an over-kill for the Klipsch RF-7. There is a certain quality to the sound that you get from that kind of power but you have to experience it to understand it. It also gives the RF-7's great deep powerful bass that the RF-7's is capable of. The RB-1090 has two 1.25kVA transformers, 8 soup can size capacitors, has excellent superb sound and has been said the RB-1090 is recognized as one of the finest amplifiers available at any price from any manufacturer, a real hidden jewel and a bargin price with performance that would cost you 6x to 8x the cost from others.
  11. The Rotel RB-1090 goes very well with the Klipsch RF-7. It's a very stunning sound quality with this combo. You can go to the Klipsch site and look under the dealer location for your area and see who carries the reference line in your surrounding area.
  12. Believe me, it's real. I don't think photoshop could edit that well without being where you could tell? Family members thought I went crazy! After they heard them, they understand now. Some even went and got the same setup and had me help them set it up since they were so stunned with the sound. I'm not running any sub woofers, you don't need to! The bass produced is thunderous, deep, tight, and taut. I can't imagine anyone wanting more bass than this, it's all the glass windows can handle in this house! Here's what it looks like with the covers on the speakers.
  13. I like the RF-7's so much over the ole Khorns, that I have 3-pair. I'm going to add one more pair soon so I have two pair on each amp and then move one of the systems to my office upstairs in the house so I can listen while I'm working too. They are quite stunning!
  14. Another angle of 3-pairs of Klipsch RF-7 speakers of mine.
  15. The correct way is in an L shape, covering the back of the woofers magnets and running down to the bottom across floor of speaker. The bass ports should never be blocked! Push it in, all the way to the woofers. I have 3-pair of RF-7's all together and they all came the correct way except for one that popped forward, blocking the bass port.
  16. Don said: "I have a special audio towel if you like to borrow it." OMG Don, that is way too much info !!! toooo much info..... !!!!!
  17. I'm running two pairs of RF-7's with Rotel RB-1090 380wpc, Rotel RC-1090 pre-amp, and Rotel RCD-1072 cd player and the sound is absolutely stunning. I don't get bright or harsh sound at all. Yes, it does sound like live BIG wonderful sound. I've listen to speakers that sound like someone put a blanket over them, too recessed! If someone likes speakers like that, then they probably won't like the Klipsch horns, being that they are more forward, but that's what's so great about them. At low volumes, the RF-7 still does not sound thin or bright for me. I'm still very amazed with the sound quality that the Klipsch and Rotel combo makes. Denon doesn't work with Klipsch, too bright from the Denon. I don't even bother with Denon for this reason when teamed up with Klipsch. I've read that Denon is no longer as good as they used to be too? Alot has to do with what you pick with Klispch. Give it what it wants from quality components, and you will be stunned like no other speaker can do but Klipsch! Stunninng and incredible sound that sounds so live and real is the only way I can think of to describe it. I bought the RF-7's first, and then I asked alot of advice on the Klipsch forum what to run them with and that's how I ended up with Rotel from so many recommending it to me here with the great sound. I'm 100% happy with this combo. Works so well, with out going to tubes!!! I'm not one for trying mods on the RF-7's, Klipsch worked very hard to get them great already, if you give them the right equipment you shouldn't need to modify Klipsch great hard work already in the product from it's original. True, that the RF-7's should be spread out and toed-in to get that sweet spot but even Klipsch suggest this in the manual. Glad you got the problem solved jpm and enjoying the awesome sound of the RF-7's!!!
  18. Well, now I think I started something! My younger brother is upset that I didn't offer him the Klipschorn's first instead of my older brother and tells me that I knew he always wanted them in the first place, now my older brother won't give them up. So now, I have to try and find a Klipschorn pair for my younger brother to buy so he will let me off the hook! He never mentioned a thing to me about the Klipschorn's!
  19. Hey Dylanl, I talked to my brother tonight to see how the setup was going. He said one of his amps sounds great on it and the other not so good but I could tell the exitement in his voice when he was telling me about the big flood of sound he felt, like the music was swallowing him up. He said his wife isn't too happy about the speakers, she doesn't care for them in the living room. I knew she was going to let him have it once I left their house earlier when we dropped the Klipschorns off and had to move her hutch to get one of them in the corner. By his excitement, I think he will end up keeping them but I'll know for sure in a little more time. He said he wanted to try a couple more things with them, and let his wife warm up to the idea of the hutch having to go in the den. Did you check out ebay, it has a 1959, 1974, and 1964 pairs of Klipschorns. I was looking at some of the pictures and I can see Klipsch changed them a little here and there over time. Mine looks a little different with the horn and crossover than the pictures I see on ebay. Thanks, Kevin.
  20. Hi Dylanl, sorry I didn't see this sooner but I'm just getting back on the computer. Wow, that would be great! I think the shipping would be really costly though, I'm all the way out in Oregon, a long ways from you! Funny thing, I was just talking to my brother yesterday about him listing the Klipschorns for me on his ebay account for local to see if it does better than the local posting I did. He said you just talked Dad out of those a few months ago and now you want to get rid of them. I explained to him for my second stereo setup, that I wanted another 2nd pair of RF-7 with that one too but that Dad has that one now and he won't give them up. Later on, after we finished the yard work, he asked me if I would help him move the Klipschorns to his place, that he wanted to give it a try and if he likes them, and if he does that I could just go out and buy another pair of RF-7 and he will make the payments on it, in exchange for the Klipschorns. I'm very surprised, he had no interest in them before and now I wonder what's changed his mind. These Klipschorns are all original, Dad has never had a problem with them, and he has never had any mods ever done to them. I asked him to be sure, after reading some have had mods done to theirs. He told me he had never heard that before, nor would he have changed the original way Klipsch made them. I'll let you know what my brother is going to do. Thanks, Kevin.
  21. I actually liked the Rotel RB-1090 amp for the Klipsch RF-7 better than Bryston or B&K. The combo sound that the Rotel RB-1090 and Klipsch RF-7 gives is absolutely stunning. If you read others running this combo they all say the same thing. I wasn't originally looking at Rotel but I got a lot of help here on the Klipsch forum to go with the Rotel RB-1080 or RB-1090. I went with the RB-1090 and I'm very pleased. I listened to a lot of amps out there for a lot more money and none sounded as good as the RB-1090. The RB-1090 also has one of the largest soundstage, it's huge compared to some of the other amps. It's almost like the Rotel and Klipsch were made for each other. Once again, I thank all of you here that recommended Rotel to me, I have absolutely no regrets and very happy with the direction people here pointed me toward! Thank You, much appreciated! Kevin.
  22. I already discovered this, so I know what you are talking about. I have the Klipsch RF-7 too. I really like them and friends and family get so awed over them when they hear them. My Dad had the Klipschorn. After he heard my RF-7 he actually was thinking about getting a pair and selling the Klipschorn. I told him if he gives me the Klipschorns, I would go out and buy him a pair of RF-7. I really wanted his Klipschorns! They are in true mint condition and I was always in awe of them growing up hearing them. I bought Dad the RF-7 and got them Klipschorns. Wow was I happy. Now I've been trying to talk Dad out of the RF-7 pair to give him back the Klipschorns but he won't do it. I'm seriously thinking about selling them and getting another RF-7 pair. I told this to Dad and he says " sale them, I don't care". He really loves the RF-7 and loves those copper color cones! So do I! The RF-7 have great looks and the build quality is nothing to laugh at, very high quality indeed and nearly 100 pounds in weight each. Congrats on your RF-7's, I really love how mine sound too! I tried selling the Klipschorn on a local classified and got nothing. I don't want to go ebay for them as the shipping would cost a fortune and need to sell them locally. I hope I sell them soon because I'm really got the itch for that secound pair of RF-7.
  23. I got a chance to test out the Odyssey and Rotel amps and both are nice amps but I picked to keep the Rotel RB-1090, it's all around just right and adds just a touch of warmness that goes very well with the Klipsch as the Odyssey is a little more on the coolish side. I'm very impressed with the combo sound that the Rotel RB-1090 and Klipsch RF-7 speakers create, very revealing, very smooth, detailed, and quite stunning sound, BIG LIVE sound, amazing bass, HUGE soundstage, giving a real big WOW-Factor. People who hear this combo are as stunned as I am. Thanks to all here who directed me towards Rotel, letting me know how well it goes with Klipsch. Thanks again..... I'm very pleased and have no regrets at all. Kevin.
  24. The RF line is Neutral sounding, not bright or harsh in any way. If one is getting bright, better look in your chain link some where else causing it! When I first got my Klipsch, I had to start looking for a new Amp since my previous one caused it to sound a bit bright. Once I changed over to the Rotel RB-1090 Amp, so smooth, detailed, and never harsh or bright. Very much a superb amp..... especially for Klipsch speakers! Very revealing combo that is quite stunning. I now have 3 pairs of Klipsch RF-7 (6 speakers) and another Rotel setup of the same since I've been so pleased with the sound combo. I sold my RF-5 pair. All the great folks here is who helped me go with Rotel when I asked for advice, so I'm very grateful to everyone here who helped me, they sent me in the right direction that I have no regrets at all! Thanks, Kevin.
