T2K Posted August 25, 2004 Share Posted August 25, 2004 I've never compared the 2 side by side, so can't help you there. I do have an Acurus 125 X 5, have owned it for 3 years or more with no problems whatsoever. I also have an Acurus 100 X 3 that I bought in 1995. Same good service. The 125 X 5 will drive any Klipsch speaker with ease. The sound of the amp is another question. I use my amps with Klipsch Synergy Premiere speakers and they work well together. I did read a comment here a while back whereas someone posted that they thought an Acurus amp they had heard sounded 'analitical'. I can tell you that the second reincarnation, the amps with the oval cutout faceplate, sound a bit smoother and sweeter that the earlier solid aluminum faceplate models, but neither are shabby to my ears. The only sure way to make a decision that you'll be happy with is to listen to both yourself with your speakers. Hope this helps.
