D-Rex
Is the upcoming release of the original Star Wars Trilogy too old to be encoded in DTS? I am wanting to purchase it when it comes out but I don't understand why it doesn't have the DTS format.
BusaDude
It's not too old... any soundtrack could be remixed/remastered, and then encoded using DTS or Dolby Digital for 5.1/6.1 channel sound. Best guess as to why it won't be in DTS, is that Lucas has close ties to THX/Dolby Labs. Also, none of the recent movies were released with a DTS soundtrack, so why worry about the original trilogy? D-Rex
That makes sense. Lucas can do as he pleases! I guess we can all make do with the DD versions!
Sean_RESG
No you have to remember that Lucas is going to suck this stone dry.. About 3-6 months after the dvd release he'll put out a dts version of the dvds. Then after that he'll put out another version that comes with Episode 3 information / trailer... and so on and so on. Wasen't one of the laser disc versions of SW in DTS?
