ant
Hello, will I be getting a big difference in sound quality improvement from a SB Live! card? I am still using my old Klipsch ProMedia v2-400 speakers (4.1). Thank you in advance.
Makaveli
Yeah. Do you listen to music mostly? If you do you should consider the Chanitech AV710 card. Better music quality than the Audigy II at 1/5 the cost.
ant
Makaveli: Yea, but mostly MP3s. I was going to get a M-Audio Revolutions sound card, but I found it has poor EAX. I am a hardcore PC gamer. So gaming gets a higher priority over sound quality. What do you think?
meuge
If your priority is EAX, than you have no other option than the Audigy2 series. Just try to get a ZX series card, as they seem to be ever so slightly more reliable. The audio quality is much better than SBLive, although slightly inferior to M-Audio. ant
How is it more reliable? The drivers? What's the difference between a regular Audigy 2 and the ZX version? I cannot seem to see the major differences -- only see one more channel, a little louder, etc.
meuge
The drivers seem to be better suited for it from what I hear, since there seem to be a lot less complaints.
Makaveli
Audigy II ZS or Audigy II OEM. Both are great for gaming. I heard the ZS has better drivers and DACS for music I think too.
ant
With ZS and original Audigy 2, will I notice the audio quality differences on my old Klipsch ProMedia v2-400 speakers set? I do not play very loud, but I do crank the bass very high since I am a bass freak. This is for MP3s, DVDs, and gaming (EAX is important). ant
You meant to say ZS, not ZX. Right?
