Chris Robinson
Tom, the 963 is a very nice unit. I put it in my HT a year ago and never looked back. It is THAT good, and for $207, it's an insanely nice deal. One really nice mod was installing a Black Gate in power supply section. Leo Keightley did mine (I'm all thumbs compared to his soldering abilities) and it really fleshed out the lower registered, and smoothed out the midrange considerably. For $25, it is a NECESSARY mod. _______________________________ Music Hall MMF-7 Turntable w/ Goldring Eroica H MC Njoe Tjoeb 4000 CDP Wright Sound WPP-100C Phono Stage JF Lessard Pantheon 6SN7 SRPP Preamp w/ RCA 5R4GY & Sylvania 6SN7 JF Lessard Horus Parafeed Cobalt 2A3 Monoblocks w/ Tung Sol 5687 & AVVT 2A3 1976 KCBR Klipschorns with ALK Crossovers Gear Online: Two Channel & Home Theater Systems
AnalOg
Chris, The purpose for replacing my Pioneer player was that it wont read cd's anymore. I put the 963 in my system 2 days ago, I am very pleased with the video & audio of this unit. It basically outperforms my once reference player. For $200.oo shipped, this is the best electronic buy I've ever made. To get the technology this player offers in other units your gonna spend atleast fives times what I payed. I'm thinking about buying another one for sacd duty in my two channel system. I would be interested in the spec on that cap, I may go ahead and replace the one in my unit if it's that noticeable. HeritageBob
How does it match up against the Njoe in your 2 channel Tom? I am kind of dying to hear your impressions between the two. Bob

Tom ---------------- Tom, search the 2-channel archives for "More Philips DVD963SA news". Date was 5/20/2004. All the info is in there, including a nice thread started by Wolfram.
