Gravity
I have a set of the older 4.1s (volume one the left front speaker) and when I use the volume knob all the speakers crackle. Is there anything I can do to fix it, or do I just live with it? It doesn't crackle or have static any other time. Mark
Shaggy and Scooby
I bought some $14 dollar a can Wurth Contact-OL. Followed the directions on the can a have'nt had a problem since. I think parts ewpress sells something similiar called deox-it. You have to take the pod apart and go about it that way as spraying it at the knobs does nothing. craftsman
I took the low tech approach to cleaning the contacts. As stated above, you have to remove the CP-1 from the base unit and remove the 4 screws holding the cover down. Next, you have to remove the two screws holding the PCB down in the control unit. Once those screws are removed lift out the PCB, get some Isopropyl Alcohol (the 99% pure stuff - available at your local drug store for cheap!) and place a little on the volume control (mine was a large blue rectangular cube). You will notice that the alcohol will start working itself into the cube. Next, rotate the knob the full range several times. Once all of the alcohol dries, plug the CP-1 into the AMP and try it out. You will notice that the static is much better but may not be perfect. Just follow the steps again and again until the static is either gone or its been reduce to a level you can live with. lovetomod
you can also use non-chlorinated automotive brake cleaner. (about $2.00 a can) I have been using this stuff since they took away my beloved 1,1,1 trichloroethane. just spray on the pots ,let dry a few minutes and give it a try. hope it helps ya !
