They are quite transportable from PC to PC. Maybe if they are made with Media Player, but I don't do that. They are all a trade off one way or another, except the lossless formats. Also, if you want to do wma files, the best way is to use the manual encoding, to set all of the parameters on a command line. You get way more control over the output files that way. At least that is the best way to do wmv files. And probably the main reason that MP3s are still so popular is their total transportablility. Gonna go now.
