GlennG
I have owned the kenwood sw300 powered subwoofer for over 6 years, to me it still sounds pretty good. Is anybody familiar with this subwoofer and would it make sense to upgrade to an up to date powered subwoofer?
tommyboy
I also had that sub. I got rid of it for a klipsch sub, and honestly, didn't hear any difference. My new one also has a 10" driver. I would say just stick with the Kenwood, unless you just have money to blow on a newer one.
Scp53
yes it does make sense to upgrade. cheaper consumer subs are not usually going to be musical and are going to be more boomy. freq response, distortion is going to be worse too(along with many other things). not saying yours is bad at all. this is generally speaking. and what matters most is if you like it. its your ears. if it sounds good to you and your satisfied, I'd keep. you'll save money. but if you were to upgrade id consider svs because they have the best bang for the buck subs no doubt. or maybe consider a diy sub... scp53
