redtop
I recently shipped some Heresy's to a forum member and one of them had a dead mid-range horn when he took it out of the box. The tweeter and woofer are operating. I tested the speakers the day before I packed them and they were working just fine. There was no cosmetic shipping damage. He took the back off to check for loose connections inside and said everything looks good. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot the problem? Also, if the midrange horn is dead, what is the best way to repair? Thanks in advance. Redtop
Daddy Dee
While checking connections, it would be good to loosen and retighten the mid leads to the crossover. Also swap the K55's from speaker to speaker. Of course, if one is bad, it will be bad in both. If the squawker ain't squawkin, it is possible that the diaphragm was fragile and near failure before shipping. I'd suggest to shoot BEC (Bob Crites) a pm. He's probably got the diaphragm you need and can help you troubleshoot the problem to confirm what's needed. I've done business with Bob. Very good guy and forum member.
