deepmukherjee
Hi I have just purchased the Harman Kardon AVR 430 Receiver and was wondering if i could mate it with the Klipsch RF7s. The reason I ask is cuz the amp rating is only 65W X 7. All comments will be appreciated. Thanks
Shade
You should be fine, the RF-7s are pretty efficient. Per Klipsch's specs : 102dB @ 2.83 volts/1 meter. More power is always great, but RF-7s don't need much to get loud. My tube amp is 17 x 2, and it can reach pretty serious volumes. Every time you double your power you only get around 3 db's. So the difference between a 65 watt amp & a 100 watt amp would be less than 3 db's of output anyway. Edit : This is assuming you don't try to "take it to 11" as they say. If you try pushing your amp too hard (ie hearing damage levels) you could push the amp into clipping. Very bad for your gear.
meuge
You're fine. Harman Kardon equipment provides very good power, and is generally under-rated. You'll probably deafen yourself long before you run out of power.
Guest Anonymous
The 430 is a good receiver, but it won't put out the max potential of your speakers, but it will sound good, but if you ever get a chance try to pick up an amp and it will make a huge difference in the overall sound, having equal power across the entire speaker will make it sound a lot better, I am speaking from personal expierence, but if you have a powered sub and turn the cross over up on the amp and use the sub and that will be just as good.
