Tenhet
Setting up my new DVD player and was wondering what does D-PCM mean? There is definately a difference between Dolby Digital and D-PCM sound through the rear speakers. PCM basically appears to send the same sound through the rears as the fronts. Dolby Digital sends effects through the rears. Also wondering what AC-3 is. I have read both my Marantz and DVD manuals but they really don't explain the differences. There is definately a difference in the responce in the 3. Obviously Dolby Digital is the best. Another question.... I have the option of choosing 48kHz/96kHz or 48khz/16bit. I have tried both and don't knotice much difference. Somebody tell me what setting are the best. avman
Pulse Code Modulation: basically 'stereo'in digital form. you should select 'dolby digital' in order to pass the dolby digital signal to your receiver's decoder. the dvpns400d has a built-in dd decoder, you may try hooking up the dvd to an available 5.1 input in your receiver, just to see the difference between the two decoders, but if i had your receiver and it had a 5.1 input, i'd try to find a dts decoder. that would allow you to have dd and dts. ac-3 is another term for dolby digital. avman ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center sony strda-777ES receiver NEW! sony playstation 2! dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 35"tv panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire surrounds and a 'teens sub coming!
