mikwebb
I have a HK AVR430 that allows me to independely set crossover setting for each group of speakers. I new to home theater and I am not for sure how to read the spec sheet. What should I set the cross over settings to? My speakers are rc25, RB 25(mains) rs-25 rsx5(for rear). On the klipsch spec sheet do I use the coloumn called Bandwidth to see what the speaker can handle? or should I just leave the the settings to small/large. Thanks Mike
meuge
Rule of thumb is to let the speakers handle as much as they can without straining. I believe the -3dB point of RB-25s is around 50Hz, so a setting of 60Hz would be the best for the crossover for the mains. On the other hand, the center and the surrounds can handle a bit less bass, so a THX-recommended 80Hz should be a good crossover for those.
