Duke Spinner
i used to think that crossing the mid horn over as low as possible was the thing to do ..... after unpackin' my new-to-me CW 2's i'm kinda annoyed by the way the mid horn honks on some recordings, no doubt due to the 600 Hz. X-over the mid horn also seems lots louder than my Forte 2's is there a tap to change the drivers output ?/
Frzninvt
There is no autoformer in the CW II's, but that crossover network in there is horrid. I would replace the cheapo capacitors in there with some quality ones and I think you will hear a vast improvement. In addition there is no acoustic material inside that enclosure and it resonates pretty bad. I had a pair of 86's and when I knocked on the side of them with my knuckles they would echo, I knock on the side of my 62's and they are solid as a rock. I would replace the caps in the networks, then I would affix some foam acoustic panels to the interior of the cabinet to eliminate the resonances then they will easily best the Forte's.
