kmfox
I have a pair of KP-480s that are missing their crossovers. Does anyone have a schematic or know the component values? Any help would be much appreciated.
mvdrums
Hi, I have been running eight of these boxes for about ten years. No x-over in the box. I use a rane ac 22 x-over. The literature states to cross at 200 hz, but I disagree with that. I cross at 120 hz, and with a graphic EQ pull ALL frequencies 50 hz, and below to minus 12 db. These boxes will not reproduce freqs below 40hz, and if you boost those freqs 50hz and below, you will just add harmonic distortion, and damage the drivers. If you follow this advice, these boxes will thump for a good long time. Oh. make sure you have at least 800 watts of power running to each box. Klipsch Employees Trey Cannon Posted March 17, 2005 Klipsch Employees Share Posted March 17, 2005 Matt is right on target...If you want a passave crossover we have them in stock. Just contact the parts dept. The passive crossover cuts of at 150 Hz...So, Matt running his at a 120 Hz cut off is right. I will say that if you dont over drive them you can boost below the 40-50 Hz range...they will go lower, but will not take the power when boosted below tunning. BTW: there are 2 units built the KP-480 and the KP-480-AX the "AX" has a crossover.
kmfox
Thanks very much for your help guys. Apparently the guy who told me that the crossovers had been removed from the boxes was mistaken, or maybe he had the AX models. I appreciate your responses.
