K-Horn as "subwoofer" for my Scalas?

Recommended Posts

I have a spare "klipschorn"-like folded bass horn, bought by I don't know wich brand. The throat is larger than in the k-horn, and there's a 2inch thick wooden circle that separates the woofer gasket from it. So the front compression room is bigger than in the K-horn.

I'd like to use it maybe as a subwoofer for my LS (but would it reach low enough??) Also i don't know wich woofer I could use in it. I could buy a K33 but I think' I'd rather go for a more powerful design since I only have ONE bass bin. Also as I don't need to go up to 400hz maybe I could use a lower-reaching unit?

A Khorn can rattle the windows with a 20Hz tone but it is basically inaudible because it is too far below the cut-off of the horn. With a little equalization from your amp 27-30Hz is do-able with the great room loading inherant in the corner design.
