zman
For those of you that have installed Barry's siesmic isolation DIY, what improvements did you percieve and on what components? < DIY=ball bearings in cups on a board supported on a slightly inflated inner tube>

LarryC
The inner tube part is not that bad an idea -- Townshend sinks, which are isolation devices that have been popular off and on in hi-fi shows, essentially have 2 or 3 inner-tube like air bladders inside, sandwiched between heavy anti-resonance plates. I have 2 in my system, under my TT and CD transport, and feel they smooth and clarify the sonics. They cost, though, and weigh up to 20-30 lbs. each. I have no idea how well the above arrangement works, but others have had very good luck with tennis balls and heavy slabs. Search on "isolation."
