Daemon
I recently moved and while carrying my KT-SW-II it fell apart! The entire back board that holds the passive radiator and amplifier fell to the ground. (See JPG attachment). It appears that the glue didn't hold. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the components and everything seems to work, however the box is obviously no-longer sealed, and I'm not sure what the positioning of the foam inserts should be. I bought this sub from a dealer over a year and a half ago and have never used it because I needed a new receiver (my old one was crap but I couldn't pass up on the deal I got). Needless to say, I'm a more than a little disappointed in the craftsmanship. What are my options? I don't know if there is an authorized repair centre in my area (near Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) and it would be difficult to get it there anyways. I really don't want to pay a whole lot to have this thing repaired either. Thanks, Carl
WMcD
I think you should definitely call Trey Cannon at 1800Klipsch. The people in Hope are always happy to address such situations. I was going to make a repair I'd sit the thing so the open end is face up. Then run a bead of RTV (bathtub caulk) or Liquid Nails construction cement (not the white stuff which is wood glue) around the batten boards (my term). Then place the back plate in place on the batten boards overight while the stuff dries. This will most likely create a good seal and a mechanical glue joint. If you don't feel competent to do this, a local handy man can. But its not too difficult. But do call Klipsch first. See what they say. Guest BobG
First contact the dealer who sold it to you. We shipped a few of those subs to Canadian dealers a while ago and if yours is one of those, it is still covered by the warranty. If that is not the case, we have a repair centre in Ontario who can take care of you out of warranty or in. Or, send me a private message and I'll give you any contact info you need. TheEAR
WOW nice pic of the two piece sub! LOL This looks like the glue that held the amp and passive radiator did not hold up too good!Often The White Van speaker company sells speakers like this! LOL When you habe a big bass impact the woofer or back panels fly out. LOL Just joking This looks very easy to fix,and can be fixed at home.Providing you have(or buy)a very strong glue to hold wood that retains some elasticity.Just apply on both sides(grove in the box and the back plate borders that touch the box.And insert the back plate, apply pressure to fit it all the way in.You should have some tool to crimp the back panel.Let it dry overnight. And voila.
