La Scala By Myself, Need some Info

Hi everybody,

I found some plans for the construction of a La Scala,

but I do not have a lot of Info on the speakers or the crossover.

Here is what I know:

The Speakers and the crossover freqs:

1)K-77-M 1" (2.54cm) Phenolic diaphragm compression driver (6000-17500HZ)

2)K-55-M 2" (5.08cm) Phenolic diaphragm compression driver (400-6000HZ)

3)K-33-E 15" (38.1cm) Fiber-composite cone (45-400HZ)

For the crossover I found a schematic of a AK-3 here at the forum.

So here are my questions:

1) Where to get the speakers or some other types which could be used?

2) Is this the correct crossover?

3) Do I need some special horn for the mid and tweeter?

4) Do you have some answers that I did not ask for? Biggrin.gif:

Peterle,

No.. The AK-3 network is for the Khorn. The "AL" series are intended for the La Scala. If you are going to build a network, I would suggest you build mine (ALK).

The tweeter (k77) has it's own built in (on) horn and does not need a seperate horn.

The K55 squawker will need a K400 horn. These are rather hard to find, but I would watch eBay for all the horns and drivers.

You should write to Klipsch to see if they will sell you a pair of K-55-Ms. They are no longer in production, so you might have to use another driver. The K-401 horn and K-33-E woofer are available. The K-33-E is about $US100. It is by far the best woofer for the La Scala's bass horn. The 2 have been tuned to each other over the years.
