dmethe3
I opened up my Cornwalls and found a square magnet K-77 in one, and a round magnet K-77 in the other. Is the round tweeter a Alnico? Which one should I change to make them match? These are 85 vinatge Conrwall I's that I run with a pair of Heresy I's. I assume the Heresy has the square magnet K-77's. Should I go with another square magnet K-77 to make them all match?
Frzninvt
The round one is the alnico, they may have blown a tweeter at one time and replaced it with an older model since the '85 came with the square magnet K-77M. I don't think you will hear a difference between the square magnet and round magnet one unless you have phenomenal hearing! You really don't need to change it unless it really bugs you, it will be a cosmetic change only. The '85 was kind of a transitional Cornwall you just never know what you may find inside one. ZAKO
The magnet type is not importent in the K77. The voicecoil/diaphram does not pass through the magnet. It passes through top plate/pole piece. The magnet is only part of the circuit.
colterphoto1
Reason once again to never open a Cornwall unless you have to. You'll never know what you'll find! Michael
