Jim Cornell
I have just entered the digital world, and man did my eyes ever open up!! No sub woofer needed here!! I caint believe what ive missed for the last 4 years, WOW!!!!! Now i have to buy more DVDS i have 2, so my hobby is very far from end!! The digital sony i got for 100.00 from a freind really opened up my academy, along with my 4 cornwalls, WOW BOA 5.1 is awesome!! I can connect 2 sets of mains, center, and rear to this unit, so if i get k-horns, ill have the hookup LOL!!! I went to curcuit city with my freind, and he bought the new onkyo, 7.1! I gave him 100.00 for the sony, in the store, and picked up an apex DVD while i was there!! The DVD has no optical out, so i had to use the coax, for digital, i was kinda bummed!! My CD player has the coax, digital out, but i only have one coax in on the back of the reciever, wish i could hook the cd player digital out into it some where!! This is home theater, ive never had in this house all i can say is WOW!!!!! Sony STR-DE825 APEX DVD Cornwall front Cornwall rear Academy center Optimus HI-FI VCR Harman Kardon CD player 2 channel Pioneer SX 950 reciever Pyramid Amp Magnavox 5 disc CD player Optimus HX-PRO cassette deck Just hardware no speakers Regards Jim

Jim Cornell
BOA Yes the APEX has DTS, will you please respond if this is good or bad, it also has MP-3!!! It has NO optical out, that sucked, will the DTS in the DVD make up for it not being in the reciever? Regards Jim
boa12
sorry i brought up that DTS jim as a glance at your 825 specs reveals it doesn't have 5 channel direct inputs which you'd need to hook up the analog outs from your dvdp & use it's decoder. oh well, about every dvd that has a dts track on it also has a dolby digital 5.1. still pretty much better than 2-channel as you've found.
