vandec54
Hello All, I have custom made wooden stands for my RS3II's (they look nice). The stands are 4 feet tall and each one is 5 feet to each side of the listener. Sitting on my couch the speakers are slightly above my head. I am currently in an apartment that does not allow me to go further then 5 feet to either side of the listener. I will be moving to a house soon, so hopefully I will have more space to play with. My question: Is having these speakers 4 feet off the ground okay, or would they be better served being placed differently. What is the optimal height placement and horizontal placement (distance to either side of the listener. I'd rather not drill holes in the wall. Thanks for your responses. travisc
four feet is four feet. I was forced to put my bookshelf surrounds on nightstands on either side of the couch at my last place. It was ok if you sat in the middle of the couch. Your just making the optimum listening position very small.
TIbor
Well I think the rule of thumb for height is ear level STANDING up. I have mine mine even with the couch since I couldnt go any further back. You will get many answers on placement. But I think height is ear level. See pic attached
