aab3rd
Does anyone know about the Adcom 555II or the Rotel RB985-THX? They are listed in the clasifieds today. I have looked up specs on i.net but I do not know how they would match up with my Marantz MM9000 to power the rear surround chanel and/or the side surround chanels. No price info, because I have not called yet. Wanted to get some feedback on compatibility with Marantz before I called.
avman
compatability shouldn't be a problem; the 'mono700' marantz amps sound/look cool and are easy to 'trigger' w/marantz interconnect. adcom-tremendous bang-for-the-buck. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds sony strda-777ES receiver sony playstation 2 dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 35"tv panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire a 'teens' sub coming! aab3rd
avman both those amps were sold. I just went to pick up my S-6s today and the dealer had several Acurus amps for sale used but in great condition. One was the 100X3 for $599 and the other was the 125X5 for ? (the owner was not there). Does the $599 sound like a good price? Should I stick with Marantz "mono500" @ 125 wpc since my other amp is a Marantz? The dealer also had a Parasound HCA 1500A 205X2 new for $579 with a 10 year waranty. Do you or anyone else know anything about Parasound amps? I run a Parasound pre and it is not bad. My "compatability question" really pertained to sound/tonal quality vs. the Marantz. Is that what you meant?
T2K
Hey neighbor, the $599 price for the used Acurus is too high. They've sold recently new for $450 or less on U-bid.You might check U-Bid for Acurus 100X2 amp. There should be very little if any audible difference between the amps used with your surrounds. avman
marantz monoblks would sound AND look good + it would be all marantz equip. if the smaller (500) mblks would be at a similar power rating as your receiver's amps, get 'em!. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds sony strda-777ES receiver sony playstation 2 dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 35"tv panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire a 'teens' sub coming!
