jbsl
No don't have any problem with not having any sheilding between speaker and TV. Pic looks great as always. I think as long as the tv is not close to the magnet on the bass bin it is okay. On other tvs it may cause problems. There is about a inch of pine between the speaker and tv so maybe that is enough to block it.Xman

psg
No gaussing problem on the TV with it that close to the La Scala? Twenty-some years ago, at university and living at my parent's, I bought a 14-inch TV and put it next to my work table which sat between my La Scala's. After a few weeks, the colors became way off and distorted. I called up the store and they sent a tech, who degaussed it and asked if that was a speaker the TV was sitting on. Yup, the La Scala was causing the problem; probably the mid-horn driver. How stupid of me not to think of it!
psg
Another thing I noticed last night is that it seems to be louder. Is this common with crossover rebuilds or am I imagining things? Since I'm in Canada, it wasn't economical to ship my boards to Bob. So I ordered caps and replaced them myself. I too have the strange impression that it's louder, but quite a bit. Maybe the clarity means I'm just pushing less to get the sound I want. I used to listen to a certain Diana Krall CD at -30 dB on the receiver and didn't feel I needed nor wanted to go over -40 dB last night after the caps upgrade. (I regret not taking out the SPL meter before the upgrade to measure a reference). Sibilance didn't bother me before and now I notice it more. I may have to put the old caps back in! [] More evidence that the speakers have more highs after the caps upgrade. I have two external amps which I can use. A Nikko Alpha 220 which made no more of a hiss than my receiver, and a carver M4.0t which had a very audible hiss when connected. The Carver is now almost unbearable and I can now notice a hiss from the Nikko Alpha. So definately more high frequency content grtting through now! I'll have to do the same upgrade on my La Scala's now!
